BMW Z1 1991 A. R. Penck

"I am also interested in exploring technical design", commented Penck when considering the design of the Z1.

New price: $ 157,15.

In the artistic design for this Art Car, the painter was inspired by a product which in his opinion was a mark of the creativity of those engineers and designers who were able to evolve particular freedom of imaginative expression in the development of this automobile. In this resoect this Z1 simultaneously lives up to the name Art Car in several senses. Scale 1:18.

BMW M3 GTR Sandro Chia

As a child, Sandro Chia drew graffiti on cars, but it must be said that he has revised his attitude somewhat in the interim period: "The automobile is a sought-after possession in society and all eyes are upon it. People look closely at cars. The one I have painted here reflects their gaze. Like a mirror, it confronts the people who look at it."

When he sees a surface he can hear it calling to him "Paint me, paint me!" And this is precisely what happened with this competition car, recalls Sandro Chia as he appends his signature to the latest BMW Art Car, dates it October 9, 1992 and declares his creation complete. Scale 1:18.

BMW M1 Gruppe 4 1979

Warhol explained the sweeping strokes he chose as follows: "I tried to portray speed pictorially.

If a car is moving really quickly, all the lines and colors are blurred." The first and only time this rolling work of art took part in a race was at the Le Mans 24-hour Race in 1979. It was driven by Manfred Winkelhock (Germany) and the Frenchmen Hervé Poulain and Marcel Mignot. They finished 6th overall and second in their class. Scale of this miniature 1:18.

BMW 3.0 CSL Alexander Calder

The BMW with which Alexander Calder initiated the Art Car series in 1975 was one of his last works and it was also to be one of his most interesting: In "defacing" the car, Calder did not orient his art to the streamlining of its body, but subjected it instead to his own artistic style.

He returned to using powerful colors and attractive curving expanses which he applied generously to the wings, hood and roof. Alexander Calder was also present at the Le Mans 24-hour Race as a guest to witness his work's première. Scale 1:18.

The car itself merely served as a surface onto which his own imagination could be projected, without representing a formal restraint. The artist himself supplied this interpretation of the work: "In painting the BMW 635 CSi, I gave expression to various experiences, fears, desires and implorations, but also to free aesthetic artistic creativity. I call this car 'Firefox on Harehunt'. It represents a hare racing across a motorway at night and leaping over a burning car - the primeval fear and bold dream of surmounting a dimension in which we live."

BMW 635 CSi

On the BMW 635 CSi collector’s model in miniature format only the size makes the tiny difference. On the 24-hour Spa Francorchamps race in 1986, the BMW team drove the BMW 635 CSi Genuine BMW Parts to victory.

Opening the doors provides a glimpse of the spartan racing interior. Even the smallest details, such as on the seats, rollbars or fittings were taken into account and translated into miniature. The detail-accurate racing engine can be marvelled at under the opened bonnet. Even the boot has a detail-accurate fuel tank. Other features that characterise this racing miniature include the racing mirrors, sports exhaust and real aluminium rims with sports tyres. Exterieur: Intricate prints of the Schnitzer works team, the sponsors and the drivers’ names Manufacturer: Autoart.

BMW 700 Sport

In 1960, 60 hp was enough for a convincing win in a mountain race. Today, a 1:18 scale model is enough to receive the fascination of this era. Minute details such as the three-spoke steering wheel, tape on the car's lights, or the classic racing rearview mirror perfectly match the original. Racing numbers on the doors advertise the fact that this is much more than just an ordinary road car. Scale 1:18. Length: approx. 20 cm.
